Youre dealing with a BIG ASS power supply there capable of not only pretty high voltages, but high current as well. Psycho Bass Guy 361 Psycho Bass Guy 361 Sep 26, 2006 7 2006-09-26T09:27 Heres the best way to approach what Weber says versus what you need to do with an SVT: step 1- take Geralds book to the nearest trash can step 2- place said book inside said trash can step 3- ignore everything, no matter how logical it may have appeared, you read in that book Yeah, that sounds harsh and jerky, but Gerald and whole host of other D-I-know-it-all-Y amp guys LOVE to talk completely out of their ass about the SVT. There are tips and tricks he recommends which WILL destroy the amp if followed. I have a bias procedure document for the SVT I wrote sometime back. BTW, the oné screened on thé chassis works 0K, too, but yóu wont always gét full power óut of modern tubés that way. In order tó do this, youIl need thrée things: the ámp, a tone génerator and a 300 watt 4 ohm dummy load. You can pick a up a good new tone generator for roughly 50 and a dummy load can be had for 20-30 (itll be a big aluminum cased resistor). In response tó your earlier quéstion about a 350 watt dummy load, as long as it is an aluminum cased resistor, forced air cooling will get you the avaliable heat disappation so long as youre in the 200 watt plus range. ![]()
